Wilhelmina B.
Allen
d. Nov 15, 2025
Wilhelmina Kennard Allen, affectionately known as "Mina," peace-fully transitioned into eternal rest on November 8, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia, at the age of 82. She was born on May 29, 1943, in Enfield, North Carolina, to her loving parents, Will Bailey and Veronica Pearson.
In 1961, Mina moved to Richmond, Virginia, where she was raised by her devoted maternal grandmother, Mazie Brinkley. Mina shared a deep and special bond with her aunt, Covie Brinkley, whom she lovingly referred to as her second mother. She also remained close to her cousins—Ray, Mack, Lyndate, and Nanette—who were like siblings throughout her life.
Mina received her education through the Richmond Public Schools System. She later dedicated many years to serving her community as a Toll Collector for the Virginia Transit Authority. She also worked as a cashier for several well-known grocery store chains, including Martin's, Ukrop's, and Koslow's, where her warm spirit and kind demeanor touched countless lives.
A faithful member of Saint Paul's Baptist Church, Mina shared her God-given gift of song throughout the ministry. Her voice, filled with grace and devotion, uplifted hearts and reflected her steadfast love for the Lord. Her musical legacy continues to be a source of joy and comfort to all who were blessed to hear her sing.
Mina will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and the love she poured into her family and community. Her memory will forever remain a blessing in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.
She leaves to mourn her husband Matthew Allen (preceded in death), her loving children; her faithful daughter Paula Kennard of Richmond; son Cameron Kennard of New Jersey, James Arthur Kennard Jr. of Richmond and Keith Kennard Webb of Memphis, Tennessee; her loving grandchildren, Tre, Tea, Essence, Landon, Denile, Nick, Tyreese and numerous great-grandchildren; nieces, and nephews; one son-in-law, Marcus and a daughter-in-law, Celena, who love and will miss her.
