Wimbush
d. Dec 28, 2023
Sylvia Marie Wimbush, affectionately known as "CP" or "Peddy", 62, made her grand entrance into the world on November 1,1961.
A songbird by nature, Sylvia sang on many choirs throughout her life, including the Youth Choir and United Voices of Praise at Ebenezer Baptist Church, the church she joined in her early years. She also sang on the Goochland High School Chorus and was a member of the All Regional Chorus of Virginia.
Sylvia graduated from Goochland High School in 1982. During her high school years, she not only sang in choruses, but she showcased her athletic skills on the basketball team and was voted most talented. She worked in various settings throughout her life, namely, The Country Club of Virginia, Super Fresh Market, Kroger, VCU, and Hardees.
Sylvia entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Rufus and Margaret Copeland and one sibling, Jacqueline Mabry. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Raymond Wimbush; one devoted daughter, Chelsea Wimbush; three grandchildren, Jakeem, Sa'Miyah, and Serenity Johnson; two sisters, Priscilla Gray and Cynthia Copeland; two brothers-in-law, Jeffery Mabry and Billy Giggetts (Trish); one sister-in-law, Linda Wimbush; one uncle, Franklin Turner (Margie); five aunts, Phyllis Parrish, Mamie Dandridge, Betty Robinson, Ruby Turner, and Gloria Turner; four nephews, Byron Copeland (La'Quia), Cedric Copeland-Cox (Kiarer), Christopher Giggetts, and Matthew Giggetts; four nieces, Dawn Mabry, Tameka Hill-Pleasants, Ashley Hill, and Teri Wimbush; and a host of cousins, and friends.
Sylvia loved to keep in touch with family and friends via the telephone on a daily basis. She ended each call with an "I love you". She was the neighborhood Mom, and everyone she met loved her. Her smile lit up every room she entered. Sylvia was truly one of a kind, and she will be missed.
The family wishes to thank VCU Health at Home by Bayada Hospice, and Sylvia's caregiver Ms. Donna Jackson.
