Susan M.
Edwards
d. Jun 9, 2024
Susan M. Edwards was a beloved woman of God, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She departed this life on June 9, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on September 6, 1940, in Wateree, South Carolina, Susan was the daughter of the late Elijah and Susie Murray. As the youngest of seven siblings (all deceased), she learned to sew and cook at an early age, displaying remarkable creativity. She often made clothes for her children and grandchildren and delighted in sharing her culinary talents through her love for cooking and baking.
Susan began her education in South Carolina, attending high school before transitioning to Richmond, Virginia, where she completed her studies. She went on to receive her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, while working at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Susan also worked as a Private Duty Nurse part-time, to make ends meet and take care of her family. She later continued her medical education, becoming a Central Sterile Technician for Henrico Doctors' Hospital, where she dedicated over 20 years of service. Susan was committed to providing quality care and support to those in need.
Her devotion to her faith was evident in her educational pursuits and service to her community. She attended Bible College at Faith Landmarks Ministries in Richmond, VA, where she actively served as an usher and was involved in the hospitality ministry. Furthering her theological education, she graduated from Faith Christian Church and International Outreach Center's Bible College in Warrenton, VA.
Susan's life was a testament to hard work and love. She was a pillar of strength and grace, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her warm heart and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Whether as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt or friend, Susan's love and care were deeply felt and will be profoundly missed.
She is survived by her three children: Waymond Edwards (Elaine), Cynthia Edwards, and Debbie Rowlett-Johnson. She was also a cherished grandmother to 8 grandchildren, had 22 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. All of whom will continue to carry on her legacy of love and faith.
Susan M. Edwards leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, a strong work ethic, and dedication to her family, and community that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
