Shilita B. Carpenter

Shilita Beatrice Carpenter was a loving and devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, and cousin. She departed this life and went home on June 5, 2026. Shilita was born on April 16, 1952 to Lula Langley and Joseph Carpenter (both preceded in death). She was preceded in death by her sister, Trudell Patricia Candis.

Shilita received her education in Richmond Public Schools. She was a caring and compassionate nurse. She treated her patients with kindness and respect. She worked at MCV (Medical College of Virginia), Richmond Community Hospital, Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center, and a physician’s office until her retirement.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted daughter Patrice Nicole Robinson (Stacey) and son Lewis Edward Land, III; grandson, Joshua Allen Robinson; stepfather, John Langley; bonus sister, Ethel Gordon (Joseph); nieces Paranita Carpenter and Misha Carpenter; great nephews Jahrei Thompson and Damari Graham; and a host of cousins and friends.

Professional services entrusted to Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where viewing will take place Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 1 to 7:30 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 12 noon.
