Sheila L. Twitty

Sheila Lee Twitty was born on April 16, 1952, to the late Plummer D. John and Bernice Verneal Watkins. She was their only child. Sheila was preceded in death by her two sons, Timothy Lamont Twitty and Walter Raynard Twitty; and her beloved grandson, DaVon Lamont Twitty. Sheila was educated in the Richmond Public Schools in Richmond, Virginia, where she excelled in home economics. She developed a lifelong passion for cooking and home decorating, which led to a successful career in interior design. She retired from JCPenney Custom Decorating in 2006 after more than 20 years of dedicated service. She later retired from Nationwide Insurance in 2013, having faithfully served the company for more than 25 years. While Sheila enjoyed a rewarding career, her greatest joy was her family. She adored her children and grandchildren, and there was nothing she would not do for them. Her love was unconditional, and her presence brought comfort, encouragement, and strength to those she loved. At the age of nine, Sheila gave her life to Christ at Locust Grove Baptist Church in North Carolina. She remained deeply rooted in her faith throughout her life. Her relationship with God was the foundation of everything she did, and she lived each day with grace, compassion, and unwavering trust in Him.

Sheila was truly a social butterfly who loved opening her home to family and friends. She found great joy in hosting gatherings, preparing delicious meals, and creating warm, welcoming spaces where everyone felt loved. It made her heart smile to see others enjoying her food and fellowship. Sheila had a remarkable gift for turning friends into family, and everyone who knew her experienced her kindness, generosity, and genuine love. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Although our hearts are heavy with her passing on July 18, 2026, we rejoice in knowing that Sheila kept the faith and now rests peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Sheila Lee Twitty departed this life on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Johnston-Willis Hospital in North Chesterfield, Virginia. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her sons, Perrell Twitty and Walter Bernard Twitty; her daughter, Tomika Gordon; nine grandchildren, including two devoted grandchildren, Cion Gordon and Rahmel Gordon; six great-grandchildren; her stepbrother, Larry Grant; her niece, Tonika Johnson; her devoted cousin, Bernice Winston; her best friend, Dellarita Creer; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
