Sarah Frances Garrett was born in Opp, AL, on March 1, 1942, to the late Coley Malone and Pearl Lee Johnson. She departed this life on Monday, November 21, 2022, peacefully at her home in Richmond, VA. Sarah was 80 years old.

Sarah lived in Newark, NJ, for a short period of her childhood, and also grew up in Morristown, NJ. She later moved to Durham, NC, after retirement, and eventually relocated to Richmond, VA, to be closer to her family.

Sarah's memory will forever be cherished by her husband of 45 years, Robert Earl Garrett Sr., two sisters, Bernice Taylor of Richmond, VA, and Helen Jackson of Stafford, VA; daughters, Lakeisha Garrett of Parsippany, NJ, Laverne Burnett of Creedmor, NC, and Shelia Garrett of Hawriver, NC; sons, Roy Garrett of Durham, NC, Robert "Pete" Garrett Jr. of Paterson, NJ, Stanley Garrett of Detroit, MI, Clayburne Garrett of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Antonio Garrett of Durham, NC, and a special foster son, Delton "DJ" Dorty Jr., of Durham, NC, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Coley Malone and Pearl Lee Johnson Sr.; brother, Coley Malone Johnson Jr.; and son, Anton Garrett.
