Obituary

Samuel Morgan Jr. age 91 of Richmond, Virginia passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 24,2025, Born May 23, 1934, in Brunswick County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Samuel Morgan Sr. and Fannie Mosley Morgan. Samuel attended Varick Elementary School in Lunenburg County, Virginia.

Samuel was preceded in death by his wife Louise T. Morgan of 68 yrs, brothers Virgil Morgan, Willie Morgan, Charles Morgan, and George Morgan, as well as sisters Mable Currie and Lucy Clay.

Samuel moved to Richmond, Virginia where he worked at a nursing home in the laundry room until he started working in painting with his late good friend Lloyd Stuart. After the passing of Mr. Stuart, Samuel started his own painting company and called it the Morgan Painting Company. He worked as a painter for over 50 years. He was known for his professionalism and his painting skills.

At an early age he joined Little Mount Baptist Church in Blackstone, Virginia. He later joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where he served faithfully for many years. He was a member of The Henry A Street Men's Usher Board.

Our Dad was a blessing to us. His memory is a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will truly be missed. The memory of our dad will bring peace, comfort, and strength in our hearts.

Samuel leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Sandra Morgan-Cousins and Marie Morgan-Edawards; one son, Samuel Morgan III; five grandchildren, Timika Cousins, Lael Tillman, Samone Morgan, Samirah Mc Elfresh, and Kamyrn Thomas; four great -grandchildren, Stanley Fields IV, Mia Cousins, Elcie and Cedel Diggs; devoted brother, Gilbert Morgan (Rev. Evelyn Morgan); daughter in law, Jeronell Morgan; devoted nephew, James Taylor; devoted nieces, Brenda Morgan Sledge, Jennifer Taylor, Kim Taylor Wilson, and Sabrina Treakle; as well as family friends, Niaomi Griggs and Dorothy Tiller; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

May his love and light continue to be with us in our hearts.
