Milton Cox Jr., a devoted son, father, brother, and uncle departed this life on March 3, 2026. He was born on June 9, 1953, in Richmond, Virginia, to Ruth B. Smith and the late Milton Cox Sr.
Milton was affectionately known as "Boo". He was a man who valued family, loyalty, and perseverance. Throughout his life, he remained deeply devoted to those he loved, always offering support, wisdom, and a steady presence to his family and friends. His character was defined by his strength, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the people closest to him.
As a son, Milton cherished the bond with his mother, Ruth B. Smith, honoring the values and love instilled in him from an early age. As a father, brother and uncle, he was a source of guidance, protection, and encouragement, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of calling him family.
Milton's memory will live on through the love he gave, the lessons he shared, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
He is preceded in death by his brother Lester Larry Cox "Lucky", and sister Yvonne Conyers "Cooky".
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Ruth B. Smith; loving daughter Artisha Mayo; caring sisters Juanita Kelly, Evelyn Adkins, and Diane Cox Hill (Herman); two devoted nephews, Antonio Harrison and Alonzo Tweedy (Terry), devoted nieces, Sheronda Tweedy, Yolanda Reese (Robert), Decardra Jackson, Roshonda Cox, and Coty Wright; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends; devoted friends, Steve Evans, and Shay Thomas "Shay Boy".
Milton Cox Jr. will be remembered for his devotion to family, his enduring strength, and the love he shared with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Professional services entrusted to Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where viewing will take place Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 2 to 8 p.m., and where funeral services will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at 1 p.m. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
