Melvin Mackcarnel Silver, son of the late Calion and Robert Silver, was born on August 1, 1949. He entered into eternal rest at home in Richmond, Virginia on February 12, 2024.

Melvin was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR race fan.  He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Annie L. Silver; six brothers, Robert Silver Jr., Nelson Silver, Clinton Silver, James O. Rosser, Edward L. Silver, Allison Silver; and one sister, Anita Silver.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Melvin "Chub" Lewis and Robert Darnell Silver, both of Richmond, VA; three brothers, Asberry Silver (Gail) of Richmond, VA; Mark Richardson (Laura) of Hollister, NC; and John Silver (Connie) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two sisters, Sally Brinson of Rocky Mount, NC and Eveline Yelverton of Richmond, VA; a devoted niece, Bernadean Bates of Bracey, VA; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.

Remains rest at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where services will be held Monday, Febuary 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. On the day of the service, the family asks that all family and friends gather at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m.
