Martha J.
Cobb
d. Jun 28, 2025
Martha Jo Cobb was born on October 5, 1947, in Elm City, North Carolina, to the late Louis and Lucille Cobb. She peacefully departed this life on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was educated in the Richmond Public School System and was a proud graduate of Armstrong High School. Martha dedicated many years of her life to service, working at MCV and the Miller & Rhoads Tea Room for two decades. She later retired from The Jefferson Hotel after 34 years of devoted employment.
A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Martha found joy in simple pleasures—cooking, listening to music, playing card games, and trying her luck with the numbers. Martha loved watching the Jennifer Hudson show. Her warm spirit and lively presence brought joy to everyone around her.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved son, William Bruce Cobb, and six of her siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted daughter, Denise Cobb; grandsons, Aki Cobb and William Bruce Cobb, Jr.; granddaughters, Akisha Cobb and Kadijah Sharpe; great-granddaughters, Amiyah (Always by her side), Kimora, and Alyana; great-grandsons, True and Carmelo; her loving sister, Carrie Barnes (Benjamin); a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; and dear, devoted friends, Renee Ruth, Rose Powell, Andrea Powell, and Sheila Waller.
