Obituary

On October 1, 2024, Margaret Elizabeth Banks, stepped inside heaven's gate. She was born in Enfield, NC on July 24, 1936. to the late Albert Evans and Magnolia Jones Evans. Proceeding her in death are her beloved husband, James Banks Jr., and son, Andre Robinson, grandson, Larry Robinson Jr. and DeAndre Friend. Margaret attended the Richmond Public School system and graduated from Armstong High School in 1954. As an adult, she became employed as a social worker with the City of Richmond. She was not just a social worker; she had a heart for the people and really cared about their well-being, especially the children. She received numerous awards for her outstanding service. Margaret cared so much about the children that she raised; over thirty foster children and adopted two. After 52 years of service, she retired from the City of Richmond; however, staying at home was not for her and she missed helping people. Therefore, she went back to work as a social worker for the County of Henrico.

On Valentine's Day, February 14, 1982, she married the love of her life. She was always a jovial person, however, she seemed to blossom even more after the marriage. The two of them were inseparable. They enjoyed life together by traveling on their own, with the Motorcycle Club, and sometimes with other groups. They enjoyed plays, concerts, movies, and entertainment. Margaret had an outstanding personality; she was beautiful and an excellent dresser. Her beautiful smile would captivate anyone. However, behind that smile was also a fiery tongue. She wouldn't hesitate to let you know what was on her mind. Margaret loved her family dearly and it was not anything she wouldn't do for them. She protected them at all costs. But there was someone that she loved even more, and that was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Margaret stated to her family that she was tired and ready to go home. She longed to see her husband, mother, father, son and the rest of her family and friends; and most importantly to see Jesus face to face. God answered His child's desire, and she left us for a better home.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children, Deborah Bolling (Leonard), Denise Duncan (Harry, Sr.), Robert Robinson, Jr. (Marshell), Larry Robinson (Lavinia), Antoine Robinson (Mary), Dominique and Ernest Banks, step-children, grandchildren, several greatgrandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
