Obituary

Mack Edward Freeman, Sr. was born October 10, 1926 to the late Lawrence and Irene Westbrook Freeman in Sussex County. He joined Calvary Baptist Church, Yale, at a very young age and was a member until he moved to Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Pernell Hamlin and Joe Jones; sisters, Margaret Taylor, Ellen Seaborn, and Virginia Hicks; and grandson, Ryan Freeman.

On December 23, 1951, Mack united in marriage with his sweetheart, Nettie L. Walton. From their union were two children, Mack Jr. and Nettie. He was employed and retired from Nabisco Bakery. He joined Cedar Street Baptist Church of God and served on the CSBS Male Usher Board for 50+ years. In addition, he was a member of the Masons, Commonwealth Lodge #81 for over 50 years.

Mack is survived by his devoted wife of seventy-three years, Nettie W. Freeman; his son, Mack E. Freeman Jr. (Janet); his daughter, Deacon Nettie A. Stokes (Melvin); one sister, Annie Young; three grandchildren, Erica Williams, Daniel Stokes, and Julius Stokes; step-granddaughter, Nikki Carter (Brandon); four great-grandchildren, Reagan Stokes, Daniel Stokes Jr, Malachi Stokes, and Julius Stokes II; two step-great-grandchildren, Cori Carter, and Chase Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
