“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

2 Timothy 4:7

On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom and grace, called His faithful servant, Loretta “Hazy” Maxfield, from labor to eternal rest. Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

Affectionately known as “Hazy” by her family and friends, Loretta was a woman whose love, kindness, laughter, and faith left an unforgettable mark on everyone she met. To her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was simply “Mema,” a name that brought warmth, comfort, and unconditional love.

Loretta was born on November 22, 1953, to the late Florence Graham and Thomas Graham. She was raised with strong values of faith, compassion, perseverance, and service—qualities she carried with her throughout her life.

She began her career with Richmond Blood Bank but her heart led her to a life of caring for others. Through dedication and determination, she earned her credentials as a Medical Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and later became a Registered Nurse (RN). Caring for others was more than a profession—it was her calling. She faithfully served countless patients with compassion, gentleness, and dignity.

Outside of work, Hazy embraced life with joy. She loved attending events, dancing, traveling, and spending quality time with family and close friends. One of her favorite traditions was participating in 10K races with family and friends, creating cherished memories along the way. Her contagious laughter, radiant smile, and loving spirit could brighten any room.

Above all, Loretta loved the Lord. In her later years, she faithfully served as a devoted member of Divine Purpose Ministries, where she continued to grow in her faith and encourage others through her loving spirit and unwavering trust in God.

Loretta leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving children, Rickie Brockenbrough, Thomas Brockenbrough (Jennifer), Shyneica Maxfield (Donald); her significant other, Ralph White; her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Brittany, Akoi, Dakota, Layla, Kanan, Eli, and Kolsen, all of whom lovingly knew her as Mema; her devoted siblings, Jaqueline Gerald (David), Lisa Miller, Stacey Graham, Thomas Graham, and Marcus Graham; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Florence Graham and Thomas Graham; her brothers, Alonzo Graham, Tony Miller, and Tyrone Graham; her sister, Theresa Glover; and her cherished nephews, Israel Richardson and Yahannah Glover.

Hazy’s legacy is one of faith, unconditional love, resilience, service, and compassion. She taught us to love deeply, live joyfully, care for others, and trust God through every season of life. Though she has departed this earthly life, her love, wisdom, and beautiful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”

Matthew 25:23
