Obituary

Lois Garnett Keel, affectionately known as Lo by her family and friends, went home to be with her Heavenly Father early in the morning at 3:00 AM Sunday, November 16, 2025, having been blessed with a long, wonderful, and love-filled life. Lois was truly an angel on earth and is now an angel in heaven.

Lois was born on Tuesday, November 26, 1935, in Richmond, Virginia, the third of four children born to Mr. Marion Blythe and Mrs. Alma Garnett.

On December 9, 1955, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Paul "Bobby" L. Keel, Sr., and to this union four children were born: Michelle "Mich", Paul Jr., Kay, and Keith. Lo and Bobby shared 41 years and 10 months of love and devotion until Bobby's passing on October 9, 1997.

Lois accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at Mount Tabor Bap-tist Church and later faithfully attended Providence Park Baptist Church until her health no longer allowed. She graduated from Armstrong High School and attended Virginia Union University for one year in the Nursing Program before beginning her family.

A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Lois poured her heart into raising her family and caring for her home. She also served as a substitute teacher in the Richmond Public School System for about two years. Lois was a humble, kind, and gentle soul whose warm presence made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Despite life's trials, tribulations, and health challenges, she never complained. A proud twenty-five-year breast cancer survivor, Lois approached life with grace, strength, and unwavering faith.

Lois enjoyed a peaceful life and found joy in simple pleasures—spending time in her garden, relaxing under the outdoor patio built by Bobby lovingly known as "Club Pine," and following her favorite sports. She had a keen understanding of baseball, basketball, and football. Early in their marriage, she and Bobby were excellent bowlers, and later in life they enjoyed traveling together to visit family and friends. Lois loved listening to country music, watching her TV soap operas, and remained an avid follower of her soaps since the early 1960s. Her smiles, hugs, and motherly wisdom will be cherished forever.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul "Bobby" L. Keel Sr.; her parents Mr. Marion Blythe and Mrs. Alma Garnett; her siblings Vernon Garnett, Marion Garnett, and Janice Easton; and her grandchildren Monica Keel and Paul L. Keel III.

She leaves to treasure her memory her daughters Michelle Keel-Moore and Kay Keel; her sons Reverend Paul L. Keel, Jr. (Angela) and Keith Keel Sr. (Lysiane); grandchildren Jennifer Poke, Corinne Keel, Keith Keel Jr., Philip Keel, and Robert Keel; great-grandchildren Des-mond Keel, Cadence Morrison Hayes (Deshawn), Amya Washington, and Le'Lamar Jones Jr.; great-great-grandchildren Bodhi Heyman and Bryson Morrison Hayes; brother-in-law Wil-liam Keel (Sharon); sister-in-law Pauline Freelon (Morris); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lois also leaves to cherish her memory her lifelong friend since college, "Rose" Rosamond Skinner, and her devoted niece Beverly Taylor, who lovingly assisted her with dialysis appoint-ments and provided help whenever needed.

Lois lived a life filled with faith, family, love, and service. Her legacy will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
