Lois C.
Brown
d. Jul 2, 2023
On October 18, 1943, Lois Cosby Brown's life journey began in Richmond, Va., born to the late Willie Jr. and Della Cosby. She finished her journey peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on July 2, 2023, joining many of her loved ones who have gone on before her.
Lois was previously married to the late Lester Brown Jr., and to this union, they had a beautiful daughter, Pamela. She also professed her love for Christ at an early age and was a member of Second Baptist Church West End. She's a graduate of Virginia Randolph High School, class of 1961, and attended Virginia Union University.
Affectionately known as mom, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many, Lois was very caring and had many passions. To everyone who knew her, Lois had the sharpest mind, helped others remember everyone's special birthdays, and was one to get the point and say what she had to say. She loved her family and the children loved her. She could have easily given MSNBC a run for their money as a television host, whether it was telling every single detail of current events, politics and all types of news or keeping up with her favorite soap opera actors on Young and the Restless and giving a scene-by-scene download. Some would jokingly say "she knows everything"!
Beyond being the family newscaster, she LOVED President Barack Obama, was a loyal Baltimore Ravens fan, loved to play Bid Whist card games with no tolerance for reneging, and enjoyed slot machines at the casino. She was also young at heart, often using Alexa as her virtual assistant buddy. She would always say "I got a song for you" and would tell Alexa to play it for everyone to hear, and even showed off her dance moves at her daughter's birthday party, a special moment Pam will forever cherish.
Lois assisted to manage the finances for her parent's family business and that's how she got her mathematical prowess. With a passion for math and numbers, she went on to work for several corporations including C&P Telephone Company, Life of Virginia and later with PMA Insurance Group before her retirement.
Lois had a favorite saying "live on" and it will be those words that inspire her family to live on and keep her memory alive. Leaving to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted daughter (her pride and joy), Pamela Brown; and Pam's special friend, Jason Pough; three sisters, Carolyn Brown (Warren), Linda Taylor (Barry) and Patricia Cosby; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Cosby and Thelma Cosby; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Willie Cosby III, Robert Cosby and David Cosby; and three sisters, Della Cosby Coverton, Shirley Wingfield and Marian Shelton.
