Obituary

Larry Vaughan Faison was born January 13, 1950, in Richmond, VA and was called to his heavenly home on December 15, 2025, at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, VA.  He is preceded in death by his parents Freeman D. Faison and Mary S. Harris, stepfather Roosevelt C. Harris and his brothers: Freeman D. Faison, Jr. aka Junie, and Keith B. Faison.

Larry accepted Christ at an early age and later, became a Master Mason in Seneca, New York.   He attended Richmond Public Schools and received his diploma in Kaiserslautern Germany, while serving in the United States Army.  His military achievements include the National Defense Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal (Fifth Award), Expert Badge (M-16 Rifle), Overseas Service Ribbon (4), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Supply NCO Basic CRS, Division Logistic Systems CRS, Supply Advance CRS, and Turkish Head Start CRS.

Returning to the United States, he was assigned to William and Mary ROTC.  After retiring from the Army, he made Newport News, VA his long-time home. He then worked as a Civil Servant at Fort Eustis Supply, Cheatham Annex, and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring once again.

In his youth, Larry was a very curious kid.  Trouble was no stranger to him, and he feared nothing.  As he matured, Larry decided to follow a more solid path, and to pursue a positive direction for his life.  This led to many years of togetherness with his wife, Jennifer, that he had known since the 6th grade, and many accomplishments in the military, for which he was very proud.   His hobbies were fishing, playing music for family functions, working on cars and trucks and rebuilding computers.  He was a die-hard Commander (Redskins) fan.  Over the years, he enjoyed the love of his pets:  King, Prince, Dutchess, Cleo, Tiger (his adopted stray cat) and Luna.

His fond memories will be forever cherished by his wife of 54 years, Jennifer J. Faison; one sister Velma Brown (Stanley); one brother Michael Faison; five aunts; two uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.   A few months ago, Larry especially enjoyed his visit with his aunt, Delores (Doe Doe) Thomas, and he spoke of this visit many times.
