Laerteese W. Greene was born in Washington, DC on November 15, 1936, to Samuel Greene and Lottie Anderson. He was reared in Farmville, VA before moving to Richmond, VA. He served as a mechanic in the military for 17 years and later worked as a prison guard before finishing his career as a city mechanic for another 17 years. He was skilled at building engines and knowledgeable about construction and electrical work. Although his passion was aimed at building engines, he also displayed an interest in guitars. While he wasn't known for playing the guitar himself, he purchased multiple. It is believed that he wanted to be a musician and would have made a good one had he received the proper education and training as a child.

Laerteese is survived by his daughters, Diane C. Greene Fabre and Gloria Jones; granddaughters, Makayla Jones and Kyu Fabre; son-in-law, Marvin Jones; the Everett Family cousins, the Brunson Family cousins, the McWilliams & Williams Family, the Kim family, extended family, friends and caretakers.
