Kehinde "Kenny" A. Awosika

Kehinde Awosika was born on 26 May 1954 in Ondo, Nigeria. A twin by birth, he grew up surrounded by family and community values that would remain important to him throughout his Life.

He began his education at Ondo Grammar School before continuing at Ibadan Grammar School. After completing his secondary education, he attended the School of Hygiene in Eleyele, Ibadan. He later moved to the United States of America, where he spent many years while maintaining strong connections with family and friends.

Kenny never lost interest in the people around him and was known for always asking after family members and friends. Whether near or far, he liked to know how everyone was doing.

Conversations with him often included questions about relatives, old family friends, and the latest family news. When family or friends visited the United States, he would gladly travel long distances just to see them, share a few moments together, and say hello. These gestures may have seemed simple, but they reflected the thoughtful, caring, and generous person he was.

Kenny is survived by his two beloved daughters, both named Ashley Awosika—a decision that has become part of the family’s cherished stories. While most parents spend months choosing different names for their children, Kenny apparently found the perfect name the first time and saw no reason to look any further. It is said that when people heard that both daughters were named Ashley, they often needed a moment to make sure they had heard and understood him correctly. It was a choice that was uniquely simple, memorable, and guaranteed to spark a smile in any conversation.

As we remember Kenny Awosika, we give thanks for his life, his journey from Ondo to Ibadan and eventually to the United States, and the many relationships he nurtured along the way. His memory lives on in his daughters, his sisters, and the many family members. Brother Kehinde will be greatly missed. We will remember him for his warmth, his concern for others, and the simple way he kept family close to his heart. He is also survived by his four sisters, cousins, uncles, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will deeply miss his presence and his genuine interest in their lives.

He was preceded in death by his beloved twin brother, Taiye Awosika, who passed away a few years earlier. Though the twins are now reunited, Kenny’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
