Obituary

Jasper L. McLean, the son of the late Viola McLean and Frank McLean, Sr., was born in Richmond, Virginia on May 8, 1957. He entered eternal rest on August 10, 2025.

Jasper developed a love for the Lord at an early age going to church with his sisters and brothers at Cedar Street Baptist Church.

Jasper loves all types of sports; he was a fan of the Mighty Minnesota Vikings.

Jasper L. McLean, a beloved brother, friend, and member of our community. Jasper leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and love that touched everyone who knew him.

Jasper, a skilled HVAC technician, dedicated over two decades of services to the Hospital Hospitality House. Recently he was the Maintenance Supervisor at Crestwood at Libbie Apartments.  Jasper received certifications in Locksmith and Refrigeration.  Jasper had a gift for working with his hands and a knack for fixing just about anything.  Whether it was a broken air conditioner in the middle of summer or a squeaky door at a neighbor's house. Jasper would always the first to roll up his sleeves and help.

But it wasn't just his craftmanship that defined Jasper it was his heart. Known for being loving, kind, and always willing to lend a hand, Jasper made it a point to be there whenever someone needed support no matter how big or small the task.  From shoveling snow to helping with a home project, his generosity knew no bounds.  Family gatherings were never complete without Jasper's famous BBQ ribs and a hearty helping of macaroni and cheese.  It was the kind of meal that brought everyone to the table and made them feel at home.  And when the plates were cleared, you'd find him sitting at the Bingo table, where he almost always came out on top – grinning ear to ear with a lucky card in hand.

Jasper will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Jasper was known for engaging with others and sharing advice and experiences with the next generation through his words and actions. Jasper leaves behind a family who loved him dearly, countless friends, and a community made better by his presence.  Though his hands may rest now, both in trade and love that will live on in all of us.

He is survived by his family, one brother: Frank McLean, Jr., five sisters: Louvenia Pope, Ola Smith, Shirley Thompson (Willie), Marcella McLean and Ruby M. McLean. Two nieces: Keisha and Franchette (Six nephews), Willie, Jr., Pedro, Jamall, Levon, Jarrod and Hakeem, and great nephews and great Nieces, and a large host of family and friends.
