Herman Oliver Lewis, Sr., age 85, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Sue Helen Morris and James Linwood Lewis.

Herman was one of eight children and proudly referred to himself as "the second son of Sue, number one in what he do." He graduated from Armstrong High School and went on to work at Duro Bag Company, where he dedicated many years before retiring.

Herman was a devoted father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his two beloved children, Kelley Lewis and Michael Lewis; two sisters, Marrion and Cammie Lewis; and four brothers, Frank Lewis, Linwood Lewis, Bernard Sr. Lewis, and Charles Lewis.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one brother, Lawrence Lewis (Amanda); two sons, Sylvester B Lewis (Verlie) and Herman O. Lewis Jr. (Joyce) one daughter, Ronda Y Lewis; his devoted girlfriend, Mary Bell (Gilbert); ten grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

He was a hardworking man who loved what he did and carried that same dedication into every part of his life. His work ethic, strength, and love for his family defined the man he was and left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Herman also enjoyed life's simple pleasures, especially cheering on his favorite football team, the Washington Commanders. His passion for the game and loyalty as a fan will always be fondly remembered.

Herman will be remembered for his guidance, his humor, and the love he shared so freely. His devotion and strength leave behind a legacy that will carry on through his family and friends.
