Obituary

Gladys Cherry Taylor of Richmond, VA, entered this life on August 20, 1943 and departed this life peacefully in her sleep on January 9, 2026. Momma Gladys was born in Richmond, VA to Joseph Stocks and Lillie Caldwell (Weatherless). She attended Maggie L. Walker High School and J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College. She was a faithful member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, Richmond, VA, where she served as trustee and missionary. She was more than a missionary; she diligently and faithfully served her community. She provided meals, clothes, furniture and friendship all within a few miles of her neighborhood.

She worked at Bon Secours as a respiratory therapist. She also worked at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls where she is and was a second mom to many. Momma Gladys did not play around. She could read anyone within minutes of meeting them. Her sense of humor was unmatched and lives in us all.

Gladys is predeceased by her husband Albert Taylor Sr.; daughter, Daphne Coleman and son, David Wallace Jr.; step-daughters, Gloria Taylor-Edwards and Lora Taylor Barnes. Gladys leaves cherished memories, daughter, Augustine "Candy" Wallace, son Bryan O. Taylor; daughter-in law, Shirley; step-son, Albert Taylor, Jr.(Sarah); step-daughters, Joyce Langley (Curtis), Angela Muwakil, Barbara Gaines(Oliver), and Christie Hamlin (Joe); grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of Boys and Girls club children.
