TAYLOR, George Russell, 81, of Lanexa, departed this life on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Louise Taylor; his brothers, Leroy Sr. and Harry Taylor; and his sister, Thelma Brown.

Russell, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was born on June 6, 1944, in New Kent County where he attended public school. He joined New Elam Baptist Church in New Kent at an early age.

He is survived by his brother, Willis Alton Taylor; his sister, Janie Harris (James II); his niece, Carol Brown; his nephews, Leroy Taylor, Jr., Michael Taylor, and James Harris III; great nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends.

A service celebrating Russell's life will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at New Elam Baptist Church, 8101 Cumberland Road, New Kent, VA, 23124. He may be viewed at the church starting one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
