Obituary

George Franklin Greene Sr., 82, was born on October 20, 1941, to Doney Greene and Annie Mae Greene.

Deacon George Greene Sr., originally raised and educated in King and Queen County VA, relocated to Richmond VA, where he would find his loving wife, Delores Greene of 58 years, and would thereafter remain. Throughout his life and career as a decorated supervisor at West Vaco; being driven by ambition, he additionally maintained a business, and found his skillsets needed in various professions alike. Furthermore, his accomplishments included working as a driving professional and trusted grounds man for his church Fountain Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the Deacon Board. In short, this great man held many accolades and numerous specialist licenses.

Deacon Greene was a hard worker. He was truly a demonstration of committed effort and stubborn dedication. In fact, he worked so hard that he could make a Sledgehammer holler, a lawn mower cry, a tractor call out sick, a chain saw take the day off, and a pickaxe walk off the job. George was many great things; A faithful husband, a wise deacon, a certain friend to many, a proud father and grandfather, but he was for certain; as he put it, "A child of God." Country fed and bred, was his way. This lifestyle included long treks across his homeland, the thrill of hunting, farming, fishing, and enjoying the many blessings God has gifted to his children. He found God through his Baptist upbringing and never lost who he found. He spread the treasure of a relationship with God and wanted people to hear God's call and answer.

Preceded by his two brothers Robert Greene and Moses Greene, and a son Kevin L. Greene; Deacon Greene leaves to remember his legacy, his wife, Delores Q. Greene; his son George Greene Jr; his two grandsons, Justin Greene and George Greene III, their mother Rose Greene who was like his daughter; his three sisters, Evelyn Hall, Edna Holmes, and Frances Byrd; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.

He will be surely missed, and he was surely loved.
