Obituary

Franklin Allen Fleming Sr. was the son of the late Henry Wise Fleming Sr. and Pollie Fleming Fitzgerald (née Link).  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mazzie Jones (John), Eva Haskell (George), Henry Wise Fleming Jr. (Dora), Lavinia Johnson (Jesse), Elizabeth Lash (Walter), Freddie Fleming (Nora), Charles Fleming, Emmett Fleming Sr. (Marie), Elsie Fleming, Herbert Fleming (Yvonne), and a son in law William R. Owens Jr.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Jeanette A. Fleming (née Walker) and devoted niece, Mary Hines, nephew Karl Fleming and his wife Patricia and many other loving nieces and nephews and friends.

Franklin was born in Henrico County, VA on June 2, 1925, and departed this life August 31, 2024, at 3:01am. He was educated in Henrico County Schools and served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Albemarle and Lexington. He enjoyed singing and dancing and sung with the Fleming Quartet in his youth and in the choir of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church for over 57 years. As a devoted member of Mt. Tabor, he taught bible school and enjoyed visiting many churches as a soloist singing his favorite songs Precious Lord, In My Home Over There, Lord's Prayer and many more.  He was known for his love of laughter and telling jokes.

He married his sweetheart on October 26, 1957, and through this union five children were born. Franklin Fleming Jr., Valerie Owens (William), Tonka Bradley (Darrell), Mark Fleming, Darlene Johnson (Anthony).

He was the proud grandfather to Nicole Jackson (Lamar), Tesa Shelton, Erica Shelton, William Owens III, Latoia Frayer (Donnie Sr.), Daniel Bradley (Crystal), Alexis Bradley, Brittany Vaughan, Mark Beard, Marc Anthony Johnson (Lindsay), Benjamin Johnson (Rachel), and Cinnamon Messier (Joseph) and a host of other great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.
