Obituary

Frances Mae Thompson, a woman of unwavering faith and spirited joy, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born to the late Dora and Ione Berry on October 8, 1932, in Maysville, Kentucky. Frances lived a long, vibrant life defined by devotion to her family, hard work, and a generous heart.

Frances was a familiar and respected presence at Philip Morris, where she worked faithfully for many years until her retirement. She carried pride in her work and valued the relationships she built throughout her career.

To know Frances was to know her love for Bingo. An avid and enthusiastic player, she was a fixture at Overhill Lake and Jackpot Bingo, where she found joy, laughter, and fellowship. Beyond the bingo hall, Frances was deeply compassionate and generous. She was a longtime, faithful supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, firmly believing in its mission to care for children and families in need.

Above all, Frances's greatest pride and joy was her family. As the matriarch of three living generations, she was the steady heart of her home—offering love, wisdom, and strength. Her influence and legacy will continue to be felt for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harrison A. Thompson; her sister, Mary Caul; and her brother, Ione P. Berry.

Frances leaves to cherish her memory her children, Larry Thompson and Frances Willis; her grandchildren, Levelle Thompson (Brandy), Damon Willis (Shiquell), Larry Thompson Jr. (Sherita), Kevin Willis (Shanon), Dominique Blackmon, Kesha Thompson, Tanisha Hopkins (Avi), and Ashley Awosika. She was also blessed to witness her legacy grow through many beloved great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Frances Mae Thompson will be remembered for her faith, her joy, her generosity, and the enduring love she poured into her family and all who knew her.
