Obituary

Felicia M. L. Key was born on July 19, 1932 in the Almagro Community of Danville, VA, to Graham and Fannie Loundermon, the second of ten children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years, Lindbergh Key, 4 brothers (Gustarv, Andrew, Ruben, and Ralph Loundermon), 2 sisters (Edith L. Lee and Vanessa Loundermon), niece Lisa McLyn and nephew Jonathan Loundermon.

On Thursday, December 1, 2022, Felicia died peacefully at Beth Sholom Nursing Home in Henrico.

She accepted Christ and dedicated her life to the Lord at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church in Almagro.

Felicia attended Almagro Community Elementary school, Lee Street Middle School and John M. Langston High School in Danville, VA.

Felicia received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology & Chemistry from Virginia State College in 1953 and Masters in Social Work from Rutgers the State University of New Jersey in 1976.

In 1953, Felicia began teaching biology, chemistry, and general science at Robert R. Moton High School in Farmville, VA known as the birthplace of America's student-led Civil Rights Revolution.

In 1957 she became a Physical Science Technician with the Ordnance Corp at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ where she met her husband Lindbergh.

In 1961, Felicia became a social worker with the State of New Jersey, a career that spanned 31 years.

Felicia was united in holy matrimony to Lindbergh Key in 1959. They were blessed with a daughter.

Felicia was a longtime member Bethel Baptist Church in Orange, NJ, which she attended for 50 years, serving in many ministries including assistant to Eagle Scout Flight Training and singing in the R.B Chorus. After moving to Richmond in 2010 she was a member of The Master's House until her death.

Felicia was a wonderfully sweet, fun loving person, who was dedicated to her family. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother. She was friendly and generous, and never met a stranger.

Felicia enjoyed various interests including listening to music, playing piano, singing, traveling, jigsaw puzzles, knitting/crochet, reading, singing, movies and sports.

Felicia will be greatly missed, leaving to cherish her memory her daughter Dr. Cheryl Key;

Siblings: Graham (Eva) Loundermon, Charles (Eleonore) Loundermon, and Correll (Jesse)Townes;

Nieces: Deborah Lowden, Linda (Donald) Lloyd, Karen (Eddie) Ashley-Lister, Vandelynn Loundermon, LaFawn Thompson, Nicole (John) Paquet; Nephews: Gustarv Loundermon, Calvin "Chucky" Winston, Lloyd Ashley, David Loundermon, Raphael Loundermon, Mark Winston, Howard (Iris) Ashley, Christopher (Sabine) Loundermon, Mario (Wendy) Loundermon, Graham Loundermon III, Stephen Loundermon;

Special friends: Vonetta Bivins and Corine Dungee; and a host of family and friends.
