Obituary

Donnie Arthur Foskey Midgette was the son of the late William Earl Foskey Sr. and Thelma Jones Foskey.  He was born on June 9, 1955 in Lenoir County, North Carolina.  He was raised by the late Bell Arthur and Lucinda Midgette, his great uncle and great aunt in Richmond, Virginia.  He entered eternal rest on November 4, 2025 at his residence in Richmond.

Donnie was the ninth of sixteen siblings.  He attended Richmond public schools and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1973. He was well known as a sharp dresser in high school, wearing nice suits and driving his own car to school.  He joined St. John's United Holy Church in Richmond at an early age.  He was active in church and was a member of the Usher Board, Junior Choir and the Young People's Association (YPHA).  He later joined Redeemed Assembly of Jesus Christ where his membership remained until his passing.

Donnie was employed by Phillip Morris International in Richmond for many years.  He held various positions working his way up to sales representative and was later relocated to California to represent the company there.  Eventually he returned to Richmond Virginia where he later became a master painter.  He was sought after by several construction companies over the years and built lasting relationships with construction company owners, Mike Todd, Preston Robinson, Bubba Carey and many others as part of his painting journey.

Donnie was joined in holy matrimony to Juanita Davis and to this union a son was born, Telly Midgette.  Donnie later married Toni Holland who preceded him in death.  From this union he gained two step-children, Robert "Bobby" Maurice Holland and Kris LaSharn Holland. Donnie enjoyed living life to the fullest with family and friends.  As he got older, he never wanted to miss a North Carolina family gathering and was always looking for the next opportunity to fellowship with his many friends in the Richmond area who were like family to him.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Alice Jean Foskey, Starlette Foskey, and Wilma Foskey Lewis; two brothers William Foskey Jr. and Jessie Ray Foskey.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Telly Midgette of Tampa Florida; six sisters, Melba Wood of New Bern, NC, Linda Mack (Rev. James) of Concord, NC, Arelia Haddock (Randolph) of Trenton, NC, Doris Foskey (Johnny) of Jacksonville, NC, Tera Murphy (Shelton) of Pollocksville, NC, and Merry Foskey of Raeford, NC; Four brothers James Foskey of Nashville, NC, Farley Foskey (Patsy) of Winston-Salem, NC, Kenneth Foskey (Thies) of Boston, MA, and Michael Foskey (Karen) of Garner, NC.; one special like a sister friend Rita Cousins; two aunts Retha Mae Hines of Hempstead, NY and Norma Jones of Palm Bay, FL; devoted caregiver Wilhemina (Cyn) Pleasant; special friends Cassandra Brown and Ms. Carol; roommate Reginald Holland (Rease) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other friends.
