Dionté L.
Artis
d. May 30, 2025
Dionte Lamont Artis, age 33, of Richmond, Virginia, entered eternal rest on May 30, 2025. Born on June 15, 1991, to Joan Malone-Artis and Donald Artis, Dionte brought light, love, and laughter into the lives of all who knew him.
Dionte was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jim Malone; grandmothers, Ethel Barner and Rebecca Malone; two sisters, Latrice Malone and Marquita Booker; one brother, Quinshawn Booker and one cousin, Thomas T-Hawk Scott Jr.
Though he faced many challenges throughout life, Dionte's spirit remained unshaken. He lived each day with joy, determination, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. A true people person, Dionte had a warm and friendly nature that made him a beloved presence in any room. He enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with his friends, always eager to share a laugh or lend a listening ear. Sundays held a special place in his heart, as they meant going to church with his father at Cedar Street Baptist Church—a time of peace, connection, and faith that he looked forward to each week.
Dionte's life was a testament to resilience, love, and the power of living fully in the moment. Despite his disability, he faced life with courage and grace, never allowing limitations to define him. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and joy that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Joan Malone-Artis; father, Donald Artis; three sisters, Charmaine Malone, Tangelia Malone (George) and Tarneicia Gassoway; two aunts, Doris Russell and Betty Barner; three uncles, James Artis and Jerry (Lisa) Artis and Robert Barner (Panza); a host of nieces and nephews among them, devoted Sadie Mitchell and Dominique Malone; devoted friends, Raynard Harris, William Mallory, Asia Jefferson, Angela Jefferson and Tertia Jefferson.
