Obituary

Delores Gray Gregory, 76, of Henrico, Virginia, departed this life at her home on November 15, 2024. She lived a life full of warmth and dedication to those she loved and the students she taught. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles Gregory Sr., her daughter, Laverne Gregory, her son, Charles Gregory Jr., her father, Aubrey Gray Sr., her brother, Aubrey "Butch" Gray Jr., and her sister, Rose Hill.

She was educated in Richmond Public Schools and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1966. She attended Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University) receiving a Bachelor's Degree in History.

Delores became a history teacher and taught at Mosby Middle School for 30 plus years. She had a real gift and passion for teaching which resulted in her students years later making sure they greeted her everywhere she went.

Delores was affectionally called "Mama Lois" by many.  In her personal life, Delores was a woman of many talents and joys. She loved playing the lottery, reading, cooking, quilting, sewing, and watching her favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys. In her leisure, she enjoyed talking and hanging with her "crew".

Delores was strong-willed and independent. She lived life to the fullest.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend.  Delores will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she touched. Her legacy of kindness, knowledge, and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Her husband Charles would always say "do what you want to do", and she would respond, "I did" and she did just that.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Robin Gregory; mother, Eva Gray; sisters, Linda Hartley and Earline Bess; two adorable granddaughters, Eliana and Rayna Gregory; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
