With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ms. Carol Ann Hurdle on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.  Born on May 4, 1958, Carol was a loving mother, supportive sister, encouraging aunt and wonderful friend to all who knew her.  Carol thrived on bringing people together and would often host family gatherings.  Family was always a priority, and her nurturing nature shined through, whether you were blood family or chosen family.  In addition to her love of hosting, she also loved traveling, cooking and baking.

Carol worked for 13 years at Virginia Commonwealth University and for more than 25 years at Virginia Housing Development Authority in their Multi-family Division before retiring in 2020.  Her roles with both organizations brought about tremendous experiences and lifelong friendships.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Tamika Nicole Hurdle; Zeus, John Johnson, her brother, Freddie M. Sexton (Connie); her five sisters, Sharon D. Randolph, Marilyn R. Maxey, Cheryl D. Arnold (Sherman), Mary E. Sexton, and Michelle L. Lawson (Corey); along with a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Carol will forever be remembered by all the lives she touched.  She was often the one people called upon when they needed help or advice.  Her strength, her faith in Jesus Christ and her love of her family sustained her.  We love you and will miss you but trust we will see you again.
