Allen Christopher "Junnie" Bowman Jr., of Richmond, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in his hometown at the age of 77.

Born on February 21, 1948, in Richmond, Allen was a lifelong resident of the city he loved. He attended the historic Old Armstrong High School, where he began forming the foundation for a life marked by dedication and quiet strength.

Allen proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam veteran. His service reflected his deep sense of duty and resilience—qualities that would continue to define him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Allen worked for Henrico County for 20 years. His commitment to his work and community left a lasting impression on those who knew him during his career.

Allen lived a peaceful, modest, and charismatic life. He found joy in simple pleasures and had a deep passion for music, dancing, and fishing. Whether casting a line or moving to the rhythm of his favorite tunes, Allen embraced each moment with warmth and enthusiasm.

Allen was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Bowman; and three sisters.  He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Bowman; surviving children, Marlo, Allen III, Jeffrey, Gail, Mary, and Kim; four surviving sisters, a devoted nephew, Kevin; a devoted grandson, Al-mar; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Professional services entrusted to Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th St., where viewing will take place Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. that same day. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.
